How much trouble can this person ensue (law enforcement) ?

During a high school gym cl hockey game, a student was playing in an aggressive mood, shoving to get the puck from another student on the opposing team. After one push, the other student got angry and hit the student in the shin with his hockey stick. The game was stopped and they both went into the gym office. The student who hit the other student was later sent to the main office. Isn't that ault with a deadly weapon?
